Biography

Eva Maria Kavanagh is an Irish soprano driven by a deep commitment to becoming an artist of lasting musical and dramatic significance, inspired by the great singers and musicians who have shaped the operatic tradition before her. A graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she completed her Bachelor of Music Performance, she continues her studies at RIAM on the Recital Artist Diploma, working with Professor Kathleen Tynan and vocal coach Dearbhla Collins.

Her development as an artist has been supported by significant recognition, including the John Pollard Bursary, awarded through Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and RIAM to support the development of her recital artistry. She is also the recipient of the Bríd Phelan Emerging Talent Award Bursary and numerous competition prizes, including the Gervase Elwes Memorial Cup, Dramatic Cup and Milne Cup at Feis Ceoil 2026.

In 2026, Eva joins Wexford Festival Opera as a Factory Artist, marking an important step in her professional development. Her operatic work includes El Gato in Montsalvatge’s El Gato con Botas, Rosina in Haydn’s La vera Costanza, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, and Sadie Dowling in the world premiere of Stephen McNeff’s Spirits Unsurrendered. She has also performed excerpts from Bellini’s Norma, continuing her exploration of the great soprano repertoire.

As a concert and recital artist, Eva has appeared at the National Concert Hall, including the Feis Ceoil Gala Concert and John Field Room, as well as with RTÉ Lyric FM Live and Irish National Opera. She has performed at Farmleigh House, the Austrian and German Embassies in Dublin, and with Northern Ireland Opera, with international appearances taking her to The Julliard New York, Italy, Paris and Germany.

Eva’s artistic development has been enriched through work with distinguished musicians including Iain Burnside, Nicolò Sbuelz, Adam Nielsen, Marianne Barrett, Bruno Caproni, Julian Evans, Elvira Dreßen, Roland Schubert, Jorge Chaminé, Ira Siff, Maria Silvana Pavan, Mark Watson, Florence Katz, Carmen Santoro, alongside masterclasses with Laurence Servaes, Anna Devin, Robin Tritschler and Helen Kearns.

Passionate about both opera and song, Eva approaches her work with a strong sense of artistic purpose. She is committed to developing an individual voice grounded in musical integrity, dramatic truth and a deep respect for the traditions of the great artists who came before her. Her ambition is to build an international career not simply as a singer, but as a complete artist whose work contributes meaningfully to the operatic and recital traditions.
